Prof. Vanessa Rosemary Duke BARRS

Professor Vanessa Barrs is the Associate Dean and Director of Veterinary Affairs at the Jockey Club College of Medicine and Life Sciences. Before moving to Hong Kong in 2019, she was based at the University of Sydney, where for over 15 years she held various roles including Professor of Feline Medicine and Infectious Diseases, Head of the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Director of the University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Camperdown, Sydney.

Professof Barrs is an internationally renowned One-Health Infectious Diseases researcher with broad research interests in fungal, viral and bacterial pathogens. She discovered Aspergillus felis, an opportunistic pathogen of cats, dogs and humans.

Professor Barrs has authored over 180 peer-reviewed manuscripts and text book chapters.
